The halo of hope
It seems a bit redundant to be in the third person today. So I (yes, hold on to your hats, I!) won't be.
I only took one photo of a Blipper today. I did not mean to, I was just too busy having fun (mostly - let's not mention the shaky out of my depth moments or the shivvering). My day started earlier than normal. In order that I'd arrive on time, I left the house at half past eight in the morning, got to the station early and was entrained and heading east by ten past nine. My walk from North Berwick was one of enjoyable solitude, occasional conversations (can you guess with whom?) and around ten smiling greetings of 'morning' with opposite-way walkers. A little over two hours after setting off from East Sands, I saw SooB's windbreak from a few headlands away from Gullane beach and knew a seat and my lunch was approaching.
The afternoon passed in a blur of chatting with just the most lovely bunch of people, of making a sandcastle, being (repeatedly) beat up by a young girl, accidentally ending up in the drink in my clothes and then just giving in to temptation, jumping into a lot of waves, getting out of my depth in some quite strong water when I was reaching the end of my energy and getting a wee fright, more chatting and happy frollicking, soapy bubbles, tasty, tasty fudge and then a most welcome lift to the train station at the end of it all. It couldn't have been a better day and I'd do it all again tomorrow if I could. Even the beatings!
Thanks everyone for turning up and being lovely. And most especially to SooB for the idea and organisation and to Hope for the lift at the end of a not-long-enough day.
