Cactus Flowering

Our neighbour has this massive cactus of which over the last few weeks has sprouted it's flower stem extremely high into the air. I can't wait to see what bursts from its buds as I think this is the first time it has flowered. Please let me know if anyone knows how long it will flower for or what sort of cactus it is?
