Milo

Fujifilm X-E1, 35mm, Lightroom, Color Efex Pro 4

Early in the morning I took this image of Milo, concentrating intently on a game he was playing. The light was dim and very soft, which gives a lovely delicate tonality to the image but actually turned out to be tricky to process. Silver Efex Pro 2 is normally the bedrock of my monochrome workflow, but I have noticed that for very subtle images it can be difficult to reign in sufficiently - in this case even with great care the blacks insisted on clipping over several attempts. So a simple desaturation and work in Color Efex Pro 4 and Lightroom produced the desired result.
