Bateman's
Today was one of our Sunday cycles. We normally start in Heathfield but, as it was just the two of us, we drove to Burwash and had a trip round some different roads.
It was a bit wet, but the birds were still singing and the spring flowers looked beautiful mingling together in the hedgerows.
In another change from the norm we had refreshments at the end of the ride and not en route, and this was today's stop.
Bateman's is owned by the National Trust and is famous for being the home of Rudyard Kipling. It is set in a beautiful Sussex valley (ie at the bottom of a hill which we had to cycle back up!) and is especially nice in spring with the daffodils and then bluebells in the gardens. Tomato soup was enjoyed and gave us the strength to get up that hill :-)
