St Ives, Free Church
Another busy day. I've decided that sorting things out after a death and arranging a funeral is the ultimate project management job.
We started off in Huntingdon, registering Mum's death and collecting death certificates and associated paperwork. We popped back into the funeral directors and then to the district council, just over the road, to sort out the electoral register and council tax. We then stopped in Godmanchester to start planning flowers, before driving to St Ives for a doctor's appointment, so she could check how Dad's doing, and popped into the building society with a death cert. All before 11.30.
After lunch at home, we went back to St Ives to see the accountant, made another trip into the building society and then went to the bank, although we've had to make an appointment to go back on Thursday as the manager was busy all afternoon.
When we got home it was more phone calls to let people know about funeral arrangements, make plans for the 'reception' after the funeral, arrange a meeting with the vicar for tomorrow and thank the team from Magpas Helimedix for their heroic efforts in keeping Mum alive until she got to the hospital, giving me the chance to speak to her, a few days later, for the last time.
As I type at 22:45, this time last week Mum had not long arrived at the hospital...
My blip is St Ives Free Church (United Reformed), which stands tall above the market square. To the left, you see the back of a statue of Oliver Cromwell, who once lived in St Ives.
