Snowdrop
More journal editing today, but I've been struggling to concentrate, as I've been had pain in my front lower teeth and gums since the routine check up, scale and polish at the dentist last Thursday. The pain started to developed the day after and has seemed to worsen over the week, bringing tears to my eyes on more than one occasion, partly due to the pain and partly due to frustration. I've never had such a reaction to a visit to the dentist before and it seems that it might be another delightful symptom of my fibromyalgia, as other people have reported a similar reaction following a routine check up, and it does make sense seeing as fibro is essentially a problem with pain amplification and sensitivity.
I've tried Bonjela, Anbesol, paracetamol, soluble paracetamol, codeine and mouthwash for sensitive teeth and nothing gives significant relief for more than a few minutes at a time. I ended up calling the dentist today and he suggested using toothpaste for sensitive teeth and Corsodyl mouthwash. If it's not settled in a few more days, I have to go back to see him so he can prescribe a special toothpaste for sensitive teeth. One friend on twitter reported similar problems lasting up to a year after a check up - I really do hope it doesn't last that long for me :(
The constant pain hasn't been conducive to photography, so I slipped out into the garden briefly this evening to get a photo of a snowdrop I noticed yesterday. I didn't spot the slug until I got the pictures on the laptop, when I also realised that the flash was a bit harsh, but I couldn't face going back outside, so I've fiddled about to make it blippable.
