The Water Meadows
This rather pretty 'pond' is usually a meadow of grazing cattle but the immense amount of rainfall has caused the River Yarr to break it's banks and flood all the surrounding fields.
This area is part of a Nature Reserve and as such the meadows act as a flood plain thereby protecting the properties and towns further down stream. The photograph was taken from a footpath which follows the route of the disused railway between Newport and Sandown and ironically the only property in the area to suffer flooding is the old Station House.
