Calm after the storm

More important than table decorations is the sunshine and calm after a horrendous night for many people. We were lucky. The electricity only went off for about a minute, the floods are disappearing on the farm, an aerator broke off the side of the house and thumped down onto the flat roof, and a cow aborted although she was under cover. Many others have lost their homes and are cold and hungry, or are stranded somewhere trying to get home for Christmas.
