Mid morning Christmas Eve
The swell rolling in from Tiree was huge, with big waves breaking out at sea, and a haze of 'sea/salt' hanging in the air around the bay. The persistent stormy weather is making me anxious.
I was quite nervous when S left this morning to go and feed the stock. It was so wild. I was quite relieved when he got back unharmed and without having found any damage.
S brought the cattle in to the cattle shed this afternoon. They seemed to know where they were going, and got back to the farm in record time. They will remain indoors until after calving.
It is dark now, the wind is still blowing and due to step up a Beaufort or two later. We are warm, we have electricity, we have wood for the fire, and we have everything we need. We are the lucky ones. I heard today that there has not been a ferry to the Isle of Canna since the 17th December, and that many folk who would like to have got home or gone home have been stranded on the mainland. I feel for them.
Happy Christmas to you all!
