Farewell
There’s people in your life that make a lasting impression on you or were there for you when you needed them.
Today I attended the life celebration of one of these individuals, a childhood friend and class mate that on reflection wish I’d been better at staying in touch. I have nothing but fond memories of Mike and the antics we got up to playing together when we were younger.
However, I will always be indebted to him and the fact he was there when my mum was first diagnosed with breast cancer. I appeared on his doorstep completely lost, he didn’t know what to do or say but he did listen and snuck me up to him room to avoid explaining what was going on to his parents. I must have chatted for hours but to his credit he never tried to rush me out, in fact I’m certain he cancelled something he had arranged with his younger brother so I wasn’t left alone. That one acts sums Mike up perfectly.
The service was very touching and to be honest really tough but in saying this the Wee Man done his brother proud, really fitting tribute to the lad/ man I remember.
I met a lot of old friends today and hopefully if nothing else he’s brought us together again.
Rest In Peace my friend xx
