Giant Turbine
50 metres off shore at Methil Fife stands this giant wind turbine. Said to be the biggest in the world it stands 189 metres high.It produces 7MW and can supply power for 4800 houses. Engineered by Samsung and constructed by Graham Engineering it is now under commissioning tests and should be in full production by the end of the year. Strangely enough the biggest problem the engineers had was with the winds- often having to wait for weather windows to complete the different stages. The trickiest operation was the mounting of the gear control housing on the top platform
