Growing Up.......
Way too fast!!
I had a fairly interesting morning with Bob after dropping FW off at work. Bob’s got two birthday parties this weekend and a sleepover tonight so we were out early looking for gifts. Gone are the days were we’d get handed the invite with ample notice. Now it’s a case of Bob advising us when she remembers which is normally the night before or a couple of hours before she’s due to be there.
She wasn’t too pleased when I said she had to come, think she thought she’d lie in her bed whilst I dropped FW off and then went and picked up a gift. After pulling the duvet off her she was up and dressed really quickly, in fact to quick. Turns out she still had her PJ’s under her clothes whilst we walked around the shops.
FW is proving to be a big of a nightmare this year on the Xmas gift front. I’ve been buying gifts for the last few months and stashing them away, two of the gifts I showed FW have been given to Bob already. This morning it was a Walking Dead hoodie I’d bought her. Bob’s face was brilliant when she seen it and immediately changed tops when FW handed her it.
She’s watched near enough season 3 in the space of a week and commented that she has only spotted one fault with the zombie make up so far.
This afternoon we’d decided to have some down time together and decided to watch Star Wars. After years of parental influence and letting her play with the original Star Wars figures there was no way she wasn’t going to love it.
I remember many happy times both of us sitting on the carpet playing with the figures/ ships whilst the films played in the background. Two other memories that immediately spring to mind when I watch or hear the Star Wars themes.
The first one is FW & I being woken by the Imperial March Theme being hummed by her around 3am when she was only about 3 years old. When I checked her cot she was sound asleep humming the tune, it was then I realised she was hooked.
The second is the small pink clutch bag she used to take everywhere with her, it was stuffed with the original Ewok figures and was never far from her reach. Again when she was around 3 FW took her to the Doctors and whilst waiting she brought out her Ewoks to play with. Two older guys sitting opposite couldn’t stop staring at the figures and asked FW if she knew what Bob was playing with.
“Ewoks” was Bob response &
“Toys” was FW.
Anyway whilst these memories flashed to the forefront I suddenly realised how quickly time has passed and more important how grown up my little girl is getting. When did this little lady with curves and long legs appear?
Any thought of my girl abandoning me soon was quickly quashed when Bob asked “Is Star Wars based in the future?”
I did immediately start laughing but actually what does the opening line say before the opening crawl “A Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....”
So is Star Wars based in the Past or Future?
Also just watched the Bing Band Theory episode where Amy completed destroys Indiana Jones for the boys – hilarious.
