A very considerate bridesmaid

Today is the wedding day and the ceremony will start at 2 pm so we have to be ready downstairs by 1.30pm I didn't go down for breakfast as Alan had brought bananas and brown rolls. Then I thought of the Aberdeen buttery which I haven't had in years so I phoned my sister to bring me one up. Delicious.

Prepare getting into ones finery and make up on. Meet the gang, including my cousin, uncle of the groom, who has come all the way from Johannesburg, in the Whisky bar. I'm just on time but miss out on the drink, which is no bad thing. Proceed to wedding which is very nice and conducted by a female minister. This is a mix of church of Scotland and Catholic. Part of the ceremony includes the lighting of candles. This happened at our son's wedding as his wife was born into a strong Catholic family. Happy occasion included a speech by the chief bridesmaid Pauline, the brides sister. It was very emotional and several people shed tears, but more so the bridesmaid who is pictured in the photo that I have chosen for today. The couple's little boy of one and a half shouted his mum's name when the couple were pronounced man and wife. The day outside was beautiful and the sun shone into the conservatory where the wedding was being held. Finally the bride and groom left happily and everyone followed.

Then it was out for bucks fizz into the sunshine. Here I am, on the left with my sister and sister-in-law. We were served some lovely canapes along with the drink. The sun was beating down and some people found it rather warm. I certainly didn't need that wee stole and quite quickly got rid of it.
Dinner was not till 5 so we hung about chatting and catching up with our South African cousin John. At 5 the speeches came first. They were very good and the brides family seemed a confident lot. The thing that amused me most was at the end of the Grooms speech he asked his bride if she would still love him when he got older. She didn't twig even when 4 young fellows in a Barbers Choir started singing the beetles song "When I'm 64". I can link it here tomorrow. The brides face was a picture.

Lovely meal and gallons of good wine. I don't think I made a gallon of it, then a little rest was taken and unfortunately for me I had a little sleep and missed part of a terrific band, called Graham ???? and plenty of great dancing. Alan and I went back to the Whisky bar with John for more revelations. Looks like a holiday in South Africa is being planned.

PS I had tea although I would have liked a whisky liquor but that would have been over the score.......So sensible ????
