This is summer

What a fantastic summery summer this has been so far. Like, proper hot, shorts-wearing, ice-cream-eating, outside-all-the-time, sun-kissed-skin, breeze-catching, laughter-filled summer. Summer like I remember summer being when I was a kid. The first proper summer since I moved here eight years ago.

The boys and I got out, posted A's party invites (finally!), got a coffee, hopped a bus and headed up to Granny and Granddad's for the afternoon where we met up with Kevin. We had an ice cream and played out in their back garden all day.

Not long after we arrived the hose came out. Kevin and Granddad staged an early intervention with A who was spraying everyone in the front garden with a hose he couldn't handle, but eventually when he was down to his boxer short and it was super hot we just let him spray whomever he wanted, however he wanted. And he got all of us.

So many photos to choose from but this is definitely my favourite. M looks terrified but he was laughing the next second. He ended up covered in mud, which he also loved. We ran around and had so much fun today. Granny made a lovely tea as always and we relaxed inside, bathed the boys and eventually headed home after 8pm. This is summer, and today was perfect.
