Ham hock and Pea Risotto

Monday 10th June.

10C overcast miserable start to the day, now at 7.45 pm the sun came out!! Great walk in the woods with Jane.
Two towel washes and Claire's two university laundry bags done and they were pretty much dry after being out for 9 hours!!!
Claire visited Nanou today, I must go tomorrow.
At 5pm Dan walked in with another four loads of washing from Uni!!!
In the garden my tomatoes and courgettes look cold and sickly. This is really not a good summer, especially as the field mice are back in the Victorian cupboard in the kitchen- I never have them when the weather is fine, this is the third year in succession that they return.
Dean, the Grimsby fish man called today, I bought Hake and Pollock, for a Sicilian type fish stew I am planning for Wednesday night.
Dinner tonight is ham hock and pea risotto, cooked with hock stock...and for me a salad of mixed leaves, nasturtium leaves, chives and spinach from the garden. I calculate the total cost to feed four, plus one big left over portion was less than £4.00.
