Chilli Fiesta!

Sunday 9th June.

Grey, cold start to the day-11C, only the temperature rose very slowly no sunshine.
After walking the dogs, Husband drove to Brighton to collect Claire and her boyfriend Heiko (he is at Brighton Uni, Hastings campus, doing Biology). I went to the car boot sale held on Hitchin Market and came home with a brand new Raclette Grill for £5.00 (bargain)- I already have a Pierrade, and we enjoy cooking on it in summer outside- it can get very smoky!!
I then met with Christine and went to the Shuttleworth Chilli Fiesta! Great fun sampling all the spicy foods, and watching 'macho' men try to out do each other on the hottest chilli preparations!!! On this collage there are jars in mounting heat order- I went for the second hottest- the beast of Dartmoor- the burn was really VERY intense, but lapsed after about 10 mins...I should have tried the hottest!!!
The collage gives a feeling for the festival, I was disappointed none of my photos were really outstanding.
Stopped off on my way home to do my weekly shop in Morrison's, I have bought a ham hock for £2.44 (never bought one before), it is now slow roasting, and I am planning a ham hock and pea risotto tomorrow. The dogs should also benefit from this roast too!!
Dan has gone back to Lincoln for a gig tonight, so it's a takeaway for dinner tonight- or as my Belfast Husband says 'a carry out'.
