May the Fourth

FW had offered to take The Gift swimming with her & Bob today and I thought I'd get a few hours on my own.

However, FW had a different idea and advised me she also told The Gift I was coming and she was super excited about this. When pointing out to FW I still had the remains of a cold I was advised she was joking about me going but the chlorine in the pool would help clear out my sinuses. Typical nurse answer for everything,

As a result I found myself at the pool not entirely happy with FW or convinced it was a wise move. I also found out that FW had actually advised the wee one I was going and she was really excited about that.

No sooner were we ready when she took my hand and pretty much refused to leave my side or release my hand for the duration of the visit. I forgot how tiring having a two year old at the pool could be. You have to watch like a hawk as they swim/ walk between activities, the waterfall was a firm favourite until I showed The Gift the water jets. The shrieks of laughter that came from her as the water jets battered off her feet was hilarious, a proper child belly laugh.

FW tried to take The Gift for a wee play but she was having none of it and she clung to my neck tighter and cuddled in. I found this hilarious and a wee bit of playback for FW using a kid to blackmail into going swimming.

Bob's swimming still does nothing for my nerves as she continues to spend most of the time under the water but I'm really impressed by how long she can hold her breath. She held it the full breadth of the pool today and reckon if pushed she could maybe do the length. She was about to try it but the waves came on and that challenge was quickly forgotten about.
