Just what am I?

This little plant can't decide if it wants to be a cactus or a leafy plant, so it is doing its best to be both!

I found the name of the golden flowered tree of yesterday's blip, and it is a Cassia fistula or Golden Shower Tree, Indian Laburnum, or Lluvia de Oro (Rain of Gold in Spanish).

I have noticed that many trees here bloom when there are no leaves. This particular tree has leaves now, but according to my reading, often it blooms with bare branches.
