Black Ice

Visiting some old and dear friends in Calgary for a couple of days on my way home from my ski trip. I have been close to this couple for many years. Howard plays goalie in a men's hockey league. His goalie equipment has a particular odour ;)

I grew up with a smoker. My mother. She smoked a lot. In the car. A lot. And it stank. A lot. And I got sick. A lot. And I, to this day, absolutely detest even the hint of cigarette smoke. A lot!

One of the things my father did to "help" with the smell in the car was use an air freshener just like this one. But of another flavour. The ones he used were green. I don't remember what they might have said on them (if anything). I have once or twice in the past few years been in a car with an air freshener of the same smell as the one my dad used. I nearly puked. Just the smell of that air freshener was enough to be bring back some of the most vile and unpleasant memories I have of my childhood. (to be clear, the only really vile and unpleasant memories I have are of my mother's cigarette smoke - thankfully! :)

Black Ice was not near so bad. But I was still a little queazy from the smell.
