The Gift of a Moment

My One Chance

After having fun with rose petals last week, there was one shot I was hoping to get sometime, one kind of like this. I knew I'd have another chance to try, because this bouquet had a twin. You see, because the bouquet didn't arrive on the day it was supposed to, my brother called the florist and they sent out a second bouquet. The first bouquet made it to me, after all, followed the next day by the replacement bouquet. When we played with the petals from the first bouquet, the second one was still looking great in the vase. However, today was the day to put it to rest, as well.

So, this is the first and last image I got of Larkyn sitting in the petals. I was hoping to get an image from above like this, with a happy smile on her face, but this is the best I got. You see, we had already played with the petals last week, and she didn't think it looked like fun today. So, I asked her to sit down, she did, I snapped this, then she hopped up and wandered around on the grass. I like this, though, because it is what most photos of Larkyn look like these days - she really doesn't enjoy the camera (can't imagine why?) and most are candids because they intrude on her less. She DOES enjoy snapping photos with my camera, though, so we take turns (me continuing to hold onto the camera for her). In any case, when people tell me there is NO WAY I could photograph their two-year-old, I tell them I get a lot of practice, and have never had much difficulty capturing great images of other people's toddlers. My camera is a novelty to them, and I'm a new person, so it usually works well, as long as they give me time to build a bit of a relationship with the little person.

I've just backblipped yesterday's bubble fun, if you have time to take a peek.

Hope you're all well. I'm not doing a very good job of catching up with your journals, but I'm trying! Miss you all.
