Invincible

In June 1962, a photograph was taken of my old school's rugby team. ("a cigar or a coconut", as my English teacher used to say, for the first to find me in the lineup.)*

Many years later, one of us commented that our record, as shown by the school magazine of that year, was:

Played 13, Won 11, Drawn 2.

This was a good excuse for a celebration. So, 50 years after this unbeaten season, we held a reunion which took the form of a Burns Supper.

I had the honour of addressing the haggis (you can see the team photograph displayed on a table in the background), and
Mrs jml was invited to Reply on behalf of the Lassies.

And a good time was had by all!


*Don't bother applying for the cigar or the coconut: none of us ever saw one from that English teacher, no matter how much we thought we had done (sometimes) to deserve one.
