New Town basement

I managed to finish work at 4 today and so had some time to wander around the New Town in Edinburgh in the sunshine. Very elegant Georgian buildings.

I was struck by the effort made by the occupier of this basement flat - they had created a fantastic garden on their steps and by their door. I have always thought that basement flats must be dark places to live but this one looks delightful.
