A pretty good day as far as week days go. I was in a good mood from waking up in anticipation of my mum coming down for the night in the evening.

I got into work and saw on the staff intranet that there were free tickets to the Producers on offer. It's a great film and the only musical I like, so I've always wanted to see it on stage. When I heard Jason Manford and Louie Spence were signed up for it this year, my heart sank and I thought I wouldn't bother. Then I heard Phil Jupitus was involved too and I wondered if it would be worth finally seeing, but it was a risk of money spent on Manford and Spence. Fortunately, working for the cooncil has finally paid off and I got two free tickets in the stalls. Probably behind a pillar or something but we'll see. Free is always good.

The day continued nicely with all the scientists coming up with cool contraptions to view the eclipse with. John, King of the Lab, burned a beaker and we all got to look through it. There was a nice sense of community spirit and Arthur set up his video camera and managed to capture it with the polarising filter on. This photo of it is terrible but the picture it captured was amazing. Way better than the last eclipse, where I, much to the amusement of my father, exclaimed "this sucks..." because my Hollywood brain was expecting it to suddenly go pitch black and for you to hear the sun and the moon scraping together.

After the excitement was over, the rest of the day passed quickly. I was expecting a call from Brussels Airline so got to say the phrase "I'm waiting on a call from Brussels..." then when it came, it turned out to not be necessary anyway, so that was also a bonus. Then home time and eventually I picked mum up from the station. The three of us stayed up talking until 1am and then I proceeded to have the worst night's sleep I can remember due to Malcy's magnificent snoring.
