The Grant Arms Monymusk
The Grant Arms in Monymusk was a place where "man and beast could always command the best attention possible." and was the centre of village life for a long time, until the end of the 18th Century, when it was closed for a time by Sir Francis Grant, who believed it was the cause of too much drunkenness in the village. Not much sign of that tonight as we went out for a civilised drive and then a little refreshment before we picked up Calum again. Monymusk is a planned village dating from the 1720s and rebuilt in the 1880s and 90s. It is lovely to wander round and even better to have some wine, coffee and cheese.
