Sleeping Beauty

I hadn't had a chance to take a photograph all day, and as I came home and crossed the River Bela I spotted the solitary swan. A little further upstream there were stick-like tree trunks reflecting in the water, looking rather like an upside down version of one of Hockney's Yorkshire woodland paintings, and I was hoping the swan would gently drift into the reflections for the blip. But he didn't move, and then I realised why, he was asleep, tucked into the bank, with his eyes closed. A lone male, when all the other swans seem to be in pairs now, perhaps dreaming of finding the perfect mate. Sorry, I can't resist a bit of anthropomorphism.
