Coffee shops are the new workplaces
I was at a meeting today - in a coffee shop where it seems more and more meetings take place. Whilst waiting for the others to arrive, I was reflecting on how our workplaces have changed - and we are increasingly using informal rather than formal spaces for work.
This coffee shop (Peter's Yard, recommended if you are in Edinburgh) is near the University and I guess this girl working on her laptop is a student. Ten years ago, she would have been in the library. And I would have been in some dismal meeting room.
I liked the way that the chairs framed the girl and separated her from the background that established the coffee shop context.
Another meeting tomorrow - in Starbucks, so the coffee won't be as good.
