Four no more
I made up a special bedtime story about a little boy who dreamt on the eve of his fifth birthday that a little puppy was waiting at the bottom of his bed when he woke up the next morning. But when he actually woke up, there was no puppy there at all.
He enjoyed all his other presents, but couldn't help wondering about the puppy in his dream. Later in the day, he went outside and in the garden found a beautiful little puppy, just like the one in his dream, with a spot on its back and a red ribbon tied around its middle.
She asked me to lay my head on the pillow beside her when I'd finished, then said "Daddy, you smell of rotten humus", giggled, rolled over and went to sleep.
I hope she doesn't dream about a puppy; tomorrow may be a little disappointing.
