Christmas means model trains

I'm not sure why,* but the holidays always seem to bring model trains running through wintry scenes set up in public places. This one is at Union Station here in Washington, D.C.

* Except that the models are often sponsored by model-train companies, which hope to sell more trains as gifts, of course.
