Golf, Fitzgibbon & The Green Lantern

Today has been mostly excellent!

Firstly the sun was shining and it was warm, this is always a good start to the day and puts me in a great mood.

It's Father's Day too, and my Dad was chuffed with his gift although he was away most of the day.

I had a great golf lesson first thing, my coach Katie is really patient and helpful, and hit a few balls at the driving range to ingrain my improved swing into my mind.

After lunch we noticed a lot of birds tweeting loudly at the back of the house and looking out of the window we saw why. Lots of little birds were gathered there, all surrounding a teeny baby bird I named Fitzgibbon, who is pictured above.

It didn't take long to realise that he was a bit wonky and, after watching him for a wee while, we noticed that he was flapping his wings strangely and his leg was tucked under so we phoned the SSPCA.

We kept an eye on him and a few hours later a lady came to collect him and showed me his leg which was dislocated at the top joint and his tiny bone was sticking out. I don't know what's going to happen to him although I fear the worst.

After tea I went to the cinema to watch Green Lantern which was much better than I expected. I really enjoyed it and am seriously getting into Marvel films!

I got to park in a funky car park which doesn't issue tickets - it has number plate recognition! Fancy! And to top off my day I'm (hopefully) going to see Rory McIlroy win the US Open! A nice relaxed evening as I have an early start tomorrow.

So that's why today has been good, apart from poor Fitzgibbon. Hope you've had a good day too, especially if you're a father!
